Benidorm in Alicante province on the Spanish Costa Blanca, is bursting with life. Visitors flock to Benidorm all year round, for energetic types who can beach bash all day and party all night, there's no better place in Spain.
Benidorm's distinctive skyscrapers are the town's trademarks, dominating the Costa Blanca skyline for miles. But drive just 20 minutes inland and you will find some of the most beautiful mountainous countryside in Spain. Most visitors never leave the centre of Benidorm - simply because it has so much to offer, including thousands of bars, cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops.

And Benidorm's fantastic variety of entertainment comes in every form imaginable. On the beach are water sports, glass bottomed boats, banana rides, activity rafts and ferry trips. And on Benidorm's outskirts are some major attractions for good value family days out, the largest being Spain's biggest theme park, Terra Mitica, a huge water park and wildlife and sea world centre. Aqualandia is another huge water park, and alongside is Mundomar, a marine life and exotic animal park with a marvelous menagerie of colourful creatures including parrots, penguins, seals and dolphins.
World Class Variety Shows
Benidorm Palace is one of the Costa Blanca's top night-time attractions. Located on the northern edge of the town, it offers a lavish international cabaret show with top variety acts from around the world on one of Europe's largest stages. You'll also see first class Spanish Flamenco dancing here.
The historical centre is located around the Canfali vantage point - the town's most emblematic image with its white stone balcony and vantage point. The Levante beach can be reached from the Plaza del Castillo either by walking down through the narrow white streets, or through the town's commercial district.
Outstanding facilities for the perfect family holiday
The town has some of the best beaches in the world. The fine sand which is cleaned daily and the transparent water has earned the town the prestigious EC Blue Flag award. Lifeguard patrols, a wealth of water sports and beachfront cafes all add to the superb quality of the town's beaches. And with more than three miles of wonderful sandy coastline to enjoy, you may never get round to exploring the myriad of delights away from the beach.
The 30-minute trip boat ride from the port to the island includes the chance to see the local sea-life through a glass-bottomed boat. There are also half-day excursions by boat to Calpe, or for a whole day's excursion inland, try a visit to the extraordinary mountain fortress at Guadalest - one of the top Spanish tourist attractions.
Between May and October the climate is sunny and warm for most of the time. The temperature can reach 40 degrees C in August with the sea at a very comfortable 25C.
The area is easily accessible, being just 60 kms north of Alicante's El Altet airport. Flying time from London is two hours and fifteen minutes. |
